Eat Fruit, It's Good For You :)

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away"
Ok, everyone should know that fruit is good for you and that you should be having at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables a day. Having adequate servings of fruit and vegetables will promote good health and your health should be an important thing to maintain! Fruits and vegetables contain essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber that may help protect you from chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases AND certain cancers. Fruits can protect your body from free radicals that can cause cancer. Fruit also is beneficial in reducing the aging process and I know you all want to look younger right?! Also, having more fruits and vegetables in your diet can help you lose weight along with eating lean meats, nuts, and beans. I would like to share with everyone an email I received from my sister. I'm not sure if it's entirely true but it makes sense and it's interesting.

"Subject: Fw: YOU NEED NOT DIE FROM CANCER - CURE IS HERE
 WHY DIE FROM CANCER

Cancer Treatment:
ALWAYS EAT FRESH FRUIT ON AN EMPTY STOMACH,,

Scroll down, the picture. is open

An highly interesting article.

Dr Stephen Mak told …..that he treats terminal cancer patients in an
"un-orthodox" way, and many patients recovered. He explained, that
before he uses solar energy to clear the illnesses of his patients, he
believes on natural healing in the body against illnesses.

See the article below

-----------------------------------------------
Dear Shereen,
Thanks for the email on fruits and juices. It's one of the strategies
to heal cancer. Lately, my success rate in curing cancer is about 80%.
Cancer patients shouldn't die. The cure for cancer has already been
found, whether you believe it or not.
I am sorry for the hundreds of cancer patients who die under the
conventional treatments. Very few live for 5 years under conventional
treatments, and most live for only about 2 to 3 years... The
conventional treatments don't make any difference, because most cancer
patients also live for about 2 to 3 years without any treatment. It is
difficult to cure cancer patients who've undergone chemo and
radiotherapy, as their cells are toxic and weak. When there is a
relapse, the cancer spreads very fast, as the resistance is poor.
Thanks, and God bless.

Dr Stephen Mak
EATING FRESH FRUITS

This is very informative!

We all think eating fruit means just buying fruit, cutting it up and
popping it into our mouths. It's not that easy. It's important to know
how and when to eat fruit.

What's the correct way to eat fruit?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUIT AFTER A MEAL! FRUIT SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN
EMPTY STOMACH.

Eating fruit like that plays a major role in detoxifying your system,
supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other
life activities..

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD.
Let's say you eat two slices of bread, then a slice of fruit. The
slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the
intestines, but it's prevented from doing so.

In the meantime, the whole meal rots and ferments, and turns to acid.
The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach,
and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil.

Eat your fruit on an empty stomach, or before your meal! You've heard
people complain: Every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian
my stomach bloats, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the
toilet, etc. This will not happen if you eat the fruit on an empty
stomach. Fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas.
Hence, you bloat!

Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the
eyes - all of these will NOT happen if you eat fruit on an empty
stomach.

There's no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are
acidic, because all fruit becomes alkaline in our body, according to
Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have
mastered the correct way of eating fruit, you have the Secret of
Beauty, Longevity, Health, Energy, Happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT
from the cans. Don't drink juice that has been heated. Don't eat
cooked fruit; you don't get the nutrients at all. You get  only the
taste... Cooking destroys all of the vitamins.

Eating a whole fruit is etter than drinking the juice. If you should
drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you
must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a
3-day fruit-fast to cleanse your body. Eat fruit and drink fruit juice
for just 3 days, and you will be surprised when your friends say how
radiant you look!

KIWI: Tiny but mighty, and a good source of potassium, magnesium,
vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange!

AN  APPLE a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low
vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the
activity of vitamin C, thereby helping to lower the risk of colon
cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total
antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from
cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.

EATING 2 - 4 ORANGES oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower
cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones, and reduce the risk of
colon cancer.

WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also
packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune
system. Also a key source of lycopene, the cancer-fighting oxidant.
Also found in watermelon: Vitamin C & Potassium..

GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners
for their high vitamin C content. Guava is also rich in fiber, which
helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene, good for your
eyes..

Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer!
Can u believe this? For those who like to drink cold water, this
applies to you. It's nice to have a cold drink after a meal, however,
the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you've just consumed,
which
slows digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will
break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid
food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats
and lead to cancer.. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after
a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks.
HEART ATTACK PROCEDURE
Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be
the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw. You may
never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack.
Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. Sixty percent of
people who have a heart attack while they're asleep do not wake up.
Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Be careful, and be
aware. The more we know, the better our chance to survive.

Benefits of Sea Salt

The other day I was wondering why sea salt is so much better than regular salt, and how can we benefit from using sea salt versus regular table salt. Well, my friends, if you have ponder the same thing, I've done the research and have the answers for you! :)

Table salt is refined, so a lot of the minerals that you need are taken out from it. Both table salt and sea salt have the same amount of sodium chloride in it, but sea salt is the healthier choice since it basically is used in it's natural form. Sea salt comes from water evaporation from the ocean or sea water. The minerals in sea salt are kept intact since it doesn't require to go through processing like table salt does.

Because sea salt contains all its minerals, there are a lot of benefits of using sea salt. Sea salt contains magnesium that helps with stress, slows down aging of the skin, and calms the nervous system. It also contains calcium that helps with water retention, improves circulation, and strengthens bones. Potassium balance skin moisture and it's a crucial mineral to replenish muscles. Bromides relieve stiffness of the muscles and sodium for lymphatic fluid balance, which is important for the immune system. Sea salt has a health benefit of clearing the sinus cavities, useful in clearing lungs of mucus, and is a natural antihistamine. Sea salt maintains the balance of electrolytes in the body. Sea salt is a natural hypnotic that helps regulating sleep. Sea salt can cure infections such as psoriasis.

All these benefits of sea salt makes perfect sense to me after doing the research. Many times you hear people taking baths in sea salt scented with their favorite scent after a stressful day or after a really good workout. So, the other day I decided to try taking a bath after my run and I felt very relaxed and had a really good night's sleep! Ever wonder why surfers go surfing when they are feeling under the weather? It's because of the salt in the ocean that boosts their immune system! If you looking for a natural relief for symptoms such as a cold, stress, sore muscles, sea salt is the answer! Now, just because sea salt is better for you than table salt, doesn't mean you can use more of it. You still should limit the amount of sea salt intake to prevent from excess sodium load on the body. Total sodium intake should be kept below 2400 mg/day.

So go enjoy some sea salt!

Are You At Risk?

I found this interesting article about a study on hormones and the relationship with cancer risk. I recommend every woman read this article and be informed about the effects of estrogen dominance. Are you at risk for cancer? Click the link below to get more information. :)

5K

I finished my first 5K today!! WOOHOO! I feel very accomplished! Running and finishing a race makes you feel great and happy that you did it! I definitely recommend everyone to at least try a race once in their life, even if you're not a runner. I hated running but as soon as I started to train and running a mile everyday, I didn't mind it so much. Just to think that it took me almost 30 minutes to run 1 mile, and now I can do 3 miles in that amount of time! You'll feel great about yourself and everyone on the course are so nice and motivating! Plus, being a participant in a race you get a bunch of free stuff! :) I recommend beginning runners to start off slow and each day increase the mileage you're running. Also, make sure you stretch! One mistake of mine was running on hard asphalt more frequently and ended up getting shin splints, very sore legs and knee problems. If you want to run outside try to run on dirt paths, that way there's less impact on your legs. :) Make sure you have good running shoes, because your feet and legs will thank you for it. Running is a great way to exercise! Next race 12K! Hopefully by next year I will be able to run a marathon.

Organic Clothing

Has anyone heard of organic clothing?! This is awesome! I was at a networking group and someone had mention she has a business with organic clothing. What a great business to have! I need to get myself to buy some of these clothes because I've heard great things about it. It's a company that have distributors who come to your home and you get to try on the clothes and get fitted for the sizes. I don't have all the details about it but it sounds fun! Who's up for a clothing party?!

The Scent of Mint

If you're on your feet all day like I am, then your feet will want some pampering. At the end of the day, I wish I had someone at home waiting to give me a foot massage because my feet need it!
Ok, so maybe you aren't on your feet all day at work, but those cute heels that you wore the night before while you were partying it up may have taken a toll on your feet. Either way, just because your feet is at the end of your body doesn't mean they don't need some love! I have tried a peppermint scrub and cream for my feet. That's right, mint is no longer just a breath freshener found in toothpaste or gum. Mint can be used for your feet!! :) The set includes a scrub, nourishing cream, and some cozy socks to keep those feet warm in the cold months coming up. Trust me your feet will thank you for it! Not only will this set make your feet happy but the aroma of mint is a remedy of nausea and headaches! So I keep the cream by my side just in case if I am in a situation where I am feeling nauseous or have a headache. Also, it is that time of the year where everyone is getting a cold. This is another situation where the peppermint set will come in handy because mint is also a decongestant which cools and soothes the throat, nose and other respiratory channels. So all around this is good for other things than just your feet!

What's In Your Makeup???

Do any of you know what's in your makeup? I used to buy makeup such as my lip gloss, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara from stores like Target or Walmart. My foundation I'd buy from M.A.C. I never knew what I was putting on my face. Many of us don't take the time to read labels and learn about what we are putting on our bodies. Those who do, need to know that just because it says "natural" does not entirely mean it is. Many things we use are toxic to our body and we don't even know. These toxins lead to cancer! Not something any of us would like to have. Lately, there have been so many people I know have been diagnosed with cancer and it could have been something they are putting on or in their body. It's better to know now and make a change in what you buy to prevent introducing your body to carcinogens. This video is great to watch and informative. Maybe it's time to change the beauty products you're using. Enjoy the video!

Travel Candles

The Holiday season is approaching and many of us do a lot of traveling during this time. I LOVE candles. I found some candles that are great to have when you're away from home. Ever want to make your stay somewhere feel more like home? Maybe you're staying at a hotel, renting a home/condo for a few days while you're traveling. You walk into this place you're staying at and maybe it doesn't smell so great. Eww! Well, here's the solution. Travel tin candles can provide fresh fruity scent to your temporary home. Put them in the common area or in the bathroom. Wherever you like! Five scents come in this set that I use, so you could also split them up and use them as stocking stuffers! :)

Shingles

I recently attended a health and wellness workshop for Arbonne and learned something new that I would like to share with everyone. Another Arbonne Independent Consultant at the workshop was telling us a story about one of her clients who has shingles. Her client started to use the Arbonne Rejuvenating Cream and his testimonial was that it has relieve/reduce his symptoms. The cream DOES NOT cure shingles, just relieves the symptoms which allows shingles patients to get through their daily activities a little easier. :) Amazing!!

Turning myself into a runner

I'm not going to lie, I HATE running!! I'm definitely a walker, and I could walk for miles. :)
I have decided that I'm going to run a 5K in November. So, you're probably wondering why am I running a 5K if I don't like to run. Well, I want to work my way up to be able to run a marathon and try to like running. I never was a good runner. I hated track and field throughout grade school, and always was close to the last ones to be done running the course. haha. When I run, I have a hard time breathing and then I get cramps on my side. With all the things I hate about running, I'm going to train myself to like it!! All I want to do is to be able to say "I finished a marathon!" It's just one thing I can check off on my bucket list, and it's better to do this running deal now than when I get older because there's less of a chance I would do it. :) So, to all the runners out there... what advice do you have for us runner wannabes?

Wish me luck and your support (and motivation) is greatly appreciated!

Goodbye Depression

Here's an interesting article about getting over depression the healthy way. Usually doctors will prescribe you drugs to treat depression, but you don't need it. Save your money on synthetic drugs and get rid of depression naturally just by taking better care of yourself. Some things this article say will get rid of depression are: exercise, yoga, nutrition, omega 3's, sun, and salt (weird, I know, but the article explains how this will help). I can definitely testify the sun helping. Ever since I've moved to Arizona, I have noticed a difference in my mood than when I lived in Michigan because we didn't get sunny days EVERY day. Aaaaand when I live in Michigan, I was in a better mood when it was sunny out. So, yeah the sun makes people happy! :) Enjoy the article!

Say Goodbye to Dry Skin!

Ladies it is not too early to start your wish list for Christmas! :)

Fall is here and that means dry skin is upon us. When I lived in Michigan, I had really dry skin during the fall and winter seasons. Now that I live in the Arizona desert, I have dry skin all year, so I'm always hydrating my skin. Being a dental assistant, I'm always washing my hands so they are dry all the time! I've come to LOVE shea butter because it keeps my skin hydrated and soft. I tried this natural shea butter hand cream that doesn't feel really thick or oily when you apply it to your skin like some other brands I've tried. It comes in three different scents and small enough to travel with and keep in your purse. You get three tubes that are full of Vitamins E and A, shea butter, and cocoa seed butter.

They make great stocking stuffers too!!! I know what my sisters will be getting in their stockings! ;)

Yummy Sweets!

Can't believe it's October already! Halloween is around the corner and that means our sweet tooth will be craving that Halloween candy. I don't know about everyone else, but when I hand out candy to the cute trick or treaters, I like to hand them some candy and then I have some for myself from the candy bowl. And then just like that the bowl is more than half empty! Or maybe some of you take a few of your kids candy from their trick or treat bags, because they shouldn't be eating that much candy anyway right? Oye, the pounds we've probably added from eating all that candy!
This year will be a little different. NO more eating from the candy bowl and only leaving the candy to the trick or treaters. This year I'll be snacking on Figure 8 weight loss chews in delicious cranberry flavor! I am going to satisfy my sweet tooth and lose weight! You can indulge in this sweet treat with no regrets and at the same time feel healthy and look great! Who wouldn't want that?!

Omega 3's

I'm a huge fan of Dr. Oz!!! I was watching an episode about crucial vitamins we should be taking. I never was the type of person who took supplements and I know for a fact that I'm not getting the nutrition I need daily. I just hate taking pills!! BUT if it's good for my health and can prevent health problems as I get older, then I will do it even though I don't like it. As I'm on the road for a better health, I started to take vitamins about 5 months ago, and I notice a difference. I have more energy and less fatigue. :)

Dr. Oz stated in his show that the #1 supplement to take are Omega 3's! It's no surprise because our body can't make it and we have to get it through our diets. Did you know women's daily dose of omega 3's is 1000mg and for men it's 600mg. Are you getting your daily dose??

Here are some benefits of taking Omega 3 supplements:

-crucial for brain function (memory and performance)
-Normal growth and development
- Reduce heart disease (we need our hearts pumping! It'd be good for those who have history of heart problems)
-Reduces inflammation
-Lubricates joints (less grinding, wear and tear, less parin, which will allow you to do all those fun activities like chasing the kids around. AND prevents from getting arthritis when we get older :)
- Fights wrinkles
-Protect vision
-Clears cholesterol
-enhance fertility

Symptoms that may mean you're deficient in Omega 3's:
fatigue, poor memory, dry skin, heart problems, depression, poor circulation

Here's the video clip of the show I watched : http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/1-supplement-you-must-take

Healthy Recipes

We all want to eat a little bit healthier. I have been trying to find good recipes that's low in calories and tastes good. I've never realized how hard it is to count your calories!! I cook for my boyfriend and I, and it's hard to find something that he will like since he's quite the picky eater! We both need to eat a little bit healthier, since all throughout college we were not eating so healthy. It was fast food or Ramen noodles, so it wasn't very nutritious. It's too much work to cook two different meals, one for him and one for me. He's not much of a vegetable eater, so I try to find healthy recipes and mix in some vegetables. He always seem to leave some vegetables on the plate. But I think I've found the perfect website with recipes that include calories for the meal and they are tasty! The website has BMI calculator, weight loss meal plans, weight loss training, tips if you plan on running a 1/2 or full marathon (which I hope to be able to do in the near future). Check it out: www.runnersworld.com

So far I've lost 5 lbs and hope to lose 5 more to reach my weight goal! This takes a lot of discipline and I give props to those who maintain their healthy eating and exercise, because there are a lot of days that I would enjoy a nice juicy burger and fries.... and ice cream, but have to resist and say no! :) Any weight loss tips are welcome!
